According to the worldwide pet transportation regulations of various countries that IPATA companies have to follow, Hong Kong is a place with low risk of rabies. In other words, all countries welcome the import of cats and dogs from Hong Kong. However, many different countries have different entry requirements that need to be taken into consideration by IPATA pet shippers.

In addition, due to the impact of COVID virus on the global aviation industry, it may not pet transportation may not be possible to fly directly from Hong Kong to the destination country of your choice.  We can arrange pet transportation to popular countries, or even accommodate certain flights or land transportation to reach the final destination. Your One-Stop, Reliable Pet Transportation Partner

Before we arrange any pet relocation journey, we absolutely will check to see if the pet has any hidden diseases that could be a concern to hinder its travel. To do so, our qualified and experienced expert team is familiar with IPATA regulations, and will take your pet to our professional vets to do a free body check. The vet will give you details of your pet’s health status and determine if it’s suitable to travel on short distance or long distance flight.

Also, as all IPATA pet shippers should advise, of great importance is to look at the age of your pets before arranging any pet transportation. The vet will also take into consideration if your pet is older, and if so, our pet movers team might break down its long distance journey into shorter legs. Our experienced team will tailor-make each journey until it gets to the final destination.

Looking for Pet Movers? FAQs:

The answer is yes. For our past 12 years of experience as pet movers, some of the EU countries don’t have the AVID scanner that is necessary to read the Hong Kong microchip and this might cause major issues when trying to clear customs. As with IPATA companies, we will arrange to implant an ISO microchip on your pet before commencing the journey.

KLM, Air French, Lufthansa, and Korean Airlines do allow pets in the cabin during pet relocation. IPATA pet shippers should advise you the need to use soft pet travel bags, pet travel bags and pet combined must weigh under 8kg. Also, the Travel bag size cannot exceed 46cm wide.

No matter what countries your pets are going to, rabies vaccines, annual vaccines, rabies titer test (for some countries), internal and external parasites (for some countries), and health certificate are necessary. A vet health check before travel is also an important first step, which will be conducted by all IPATA pet shippers. We advise you to learn the import requirements of the country you are entering, and contact as many airlines as you can to find the most suitable one for this journey. Have the travel kennel ready a few months in advance so that your pets can get used to it. It is also advisable to apply import permits for overseas countries in advance. As soon as you have your pet travel date confirmed, you can book a quarantine in advance to make sure the destination country is aware of your pet’s arrival. Make sure all vaccines are up to date.

It is very important for pets to take their medication on time, but the departure time may not match their normal timetable for taking medication. As pet movers, we will try our best to arrange the departure time to different airlines to get as close to the timetable as possible. After the pet arrives, if the time for the next medication has passed, we can arrange a connecting flight and have a pet transportation agent to give the pets the required medication during the transfer process.

As qualified, reliable pet movers, we will meet all the import requirements to the desired country of your choice.  A pet transportation company, whether or not they are registered by IPATA, must be able to find the best suitable airline for your journey, while providing accurate details.

Hong Kong’s AFCD does not accept rabies vaccines for several countries that require that the pets must leave Hong Kong for over 6 months.

As IPATA companies would advise, different countries have different import requirements, like the USA, Canada, and EU countries only require full vaccination and health certificates which cost about $3000.

Singapore and Indonesia required additional rabies titer tests which cost about $6000 if arranged through IPATA companies.

Australia, New Zealand, takes 7 months for the process and requires 10 days quarantine and many blood tests. It could cost IPATA pet shippers about HKD20000 to set it up.

As most IPATA companies would advise, there is always a small risk of side effects from any vaccine. But from our past decade of experience as pet movers, no dogs or cats have experienced any side effect symptoms after taking rabies vaccines. But for dogs during pregnancy, the vet will not recommend taking any vaccines, as it might harm the puppies.

A few days before your pets leave for your destination country, the vet will examine any health issue to determine if they are fit for travel. As long as your pet doesn’t have any disease that could pass to other animals, they should allow the pets to fly. If your pet has a kidney disorder, heart disease, or any similar health issues, the vet will examine the actual situation before deciding whether it is suitable for a long journey.

Hong Kong allows small animals such as rabbits, hamsters, turtles, snakes, chinchillas, or Ornamental fish to enter Hong Kong. You are able to arrange pet transportation for them through a variety of IPATA companies locally.

In reality, whether it is safe to arrange pet relocation services in high temperatures depends entirely on how you arrange it. Like other IPATA companies, we will arrange for them to be transported to the airport in an air-conditioned environment from the moment they leave your doorstep on the day of the flight. After arriving at the airport, the airport staff will follow up on the whole process and will not expose your pets to the outdoors. Just so owners know, the airplane cargo area has a space created for animals only, where the temperature and light conditions are designed to be moderate for animals.

All airlines suggest not to give any food 12 hours before take-off. The reason is because if the pets have eaten too much before boarding, after a long journey they will likely have a lot of urine and feces in the travel box when they arrive. This might cause bacteria and odor related problems. In fact, we as pet movers recommend that if it is a short flight departing from Hong Kong to Southeast Asian countries, you can give a small amount of food before flying. Normal adult pets should be able to hold their urine and feces for about 10 hours if conditions require them to do so.

However, if it is a long distance flight, our pet transportation team would suggest to avoid providing any food 10 hours before the scheduled take-off, so as to avoid the spread of bacteria and odor after arrival. Of course, you must also consult the veterinarian on any possible health issues of your pet before deciding on any fasting.
